My Philosphy of Education

As an educator, I feel it is my responsibility to give my students the best opportunity to explore the world of learning. Through encouragement, respect, discipline and innovation I know I can bring out the best that they can be. I want my students to reflect on their daily lives and with this take on the responsibilities society brings upon them.

I wish to create an open-minded environment where children feel not only welcome in the classroom but also where the new adventures of learning begin everyday. As a teacher and mother I would like to create the least restrictive environment for parents and their children. I want to welcome parents into the classroom so that they can become involved in their child’s education. I hope to have the support of each parent or guardian, thus reiterating to the children that they are in a safe and loving environment. My intention is to create a family like atmosphere where the children will support each other and guide one another through the rough aspects that can occur in life.

I believe that in order for students to learn they must have the ability to think critically, reason inductively and deductively and to express themselves clearly orally and in writing. They must understand and maintain the necessary skills to decipher words, sentences, concepts, clarifying and evaluating materials.

I will acknowledge the standard curriculum given to me by the institution where I teach, however I will also incorporate a broader aspect of learning tools that can bring a diverse sense of learning into the classroom. In return, as a professional I will always take the time to improve myself with professional development workshops and education materials that will broaden my knowledge. As a result, this will give my students the opportunity to bring forth their best and as well as encourage new learning techniques. This will ensure equitable learning opportunities to each student. Like me my classroom will be sensitive in taking into consideration the students gender, race, religion, ethnicity, and special needs. The school year will be a journey with high and lows that together we will overcome.
